The LM70A is a standalone measuring instrument and does not require an external measurement system. Results can be displayed in metres, feet or inches.

Strong ambient light, excessive sunlight, unsuitable target reflectivity or insufficient battery power may reduce measurement performance. Therefore, the maximum 70 m range should not be interpreted as guaranteed under all environmental conditions.

For indirect Pythagorean measurements, measurements should be taken from the same reference point and in the sequence specified by the manufacturer.

Construction and controls

The LM70A uses a 2.0" LCD to display the primary measurement result and additional measurement information. Its keypad provides access to distance, area, volume, indirect measurement, memory and calculation functions.

The measurement reference can be switched between the front and rear of the instrument. The user manual also provides a display backlight and a switchable audible prompt.

Important operating and safety information

• The instrument uses a Class 2 laser; never direct the laser beam towards eyes or other parts of the body.
• Avoid aiming the laser at highly reflective surfaces.
• Do not disassemble, modify or alter the laser transmitter without authorisation.
• Do not use the meter near aircraft, medical equipment or in flammable or explosive environments.
• Strong sunlight, poor target reflectivity or low battery power can adversely affect measurement results.
