The UNI-T UT123T is a compact digital multimeter designed for household electrical measurements, DIY work and basic equipment troubleshooting. It measures AC and DC voltage up to 600 V, resistance up to 20 MΩ, continuity and temperature with a K-type thermocouple, and provides non-contact AC electric-field detection (NCV). Auto-ranging, automatic AC/DC voltage recognition and combined visual/audible indication make routine measurements easier to perform.

Applications

The UT123T is positioned by the manufacturer as a pocket-sized residential multimeter for home use. It is suitable for basic testing of household electrical circuits, outlets, wiring, connections, power supplies and electrical equipment, as well as resistance, continuity, voltage-presence and temperature checks.

It is also suitable for electronics hobbyists, DIY users and routine technical maintenance where advanced laboratory or industrial multimeter functions are not required.

Compatibility and limitations

• Voltage, resistance and continuity measurements use the supplied test leads connected to the COM and VΩ°C terminals.
• Temperature measurement uses a K-type thermocouple.
• Automatic AC/DC voltage recognition operates from approximately 0.5 V. Below this level, AC or DC mode should be selected with the SELECT button.
• The UT123T does not provide current measurement and has no dedicated current input.
• The manufacturer does not specify capacitance, frequency or diode measurement functions for this model.
• True RMS operation is not specified by the manufacturer and should therefore not be attributed to this model.
• NCV detects electric-field strength and is not a substitute for an accurate contact voltage measurement. The voltage-related colour levels shown in the manufacturer's documentation are reference indications only.

Construction and controls

The UT123T combines a compact housing, EBTN LCD, rotary function selector and dedicated SELECT and HOLD buttons. A coloured indicator at the top of the instrument provides visual information for NCV detection, continuity testing and battery status.

The SELECT button changes the applicable measurement mode, while HOLD freezes a displayed result. In NCV mode, electric-field intensity is additionally represented by LCD segments and by the repetition rate of the audible signal.

Important operating and safety notes

• Do not measure voltages above 600 Vrms, as this may damage the meter and create an electric-shock hazard.
• Before measuring resistance or continuity, disconnect power from the circuit and fully discharge all capacitors.
• Before important voltage measurements, verify meter operation using a known voltage source.
• NCV indications are approximate and depend on distance, conductor insulation, electric-field strength and other conditions; NCV is not a substitute for an accurate contact voltage measurement.
• Use a K-type thermocouple for temperature measurement and keep the measured temperature within the specified range up to 300 °C / 572 °F.
• Replace the batteries when the low-battery indication appears, as insufficient supply voltage may affect measurement accuracy.
• Replacement test leads should meet at least EN 61010-031, CAT III 600 V, 10 A requirements.
