These compact speakers are well-suited for embedding basic sound into microcontroller or other embedded systems.
Speaker Connections
The speaker is equipped with solder pads for connection. Use the outer pads for soldering; the inner pads are internally connected to the cone via thin wires.
For microcontroller (MCU) use, the negative pad ("–") should be connected to ground, and the positive pad ("+") should be connected to a digital output pin or a small audio amplifier. A series capacitor rated between 10uF and 47uF is recommended in line with the drive pin to prevent DC current from damaging the MCU.
For louder audio output, integrate a transistor, LM386 audio amplifier, or similar amplification circuit to increase the drive to the speaker.
