Description

KONNWEI KW905 OBD2 Diagnostic Adapter, ELM327, Bluetooth 5.2, iOS/Android

The KONNWEI KW905 is a compact wireless OBD2 diagnostic adapter designed to read engine and emissions-related information from OBD-II compliant vehicles using a smartphone. It can read and clear diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), display live vehicle parameters and read VIN information when supported by the vehicle ECU. Bluetooth 5.2 provides the wireless connection to Android or iOS devices, with KONNWEI recommending its free MAXOBD application.

Key parameters:
OBD-II / ELM327 • Bluetooth 5.2 • Android and iOS • 12 V DC (9–16 V) • DTC read/clear • live data

Key advantages

  • Bluetooth 5.2 wireless communication – transfers diagnostic information to a compatible Android or iOS smartphone or tablet without an additional data cable.
  • DTC reading and clearing – reads OBD-II diagnostic trouble codes, helps identify the reason for a Check Engine / MIL warning and allows codes to be cleared after the fault has been corrected.
  • Live data monitoring – displays ECU parameters such as engine RPM, vehicle speed, coolant temperature, calculated engine load, throttle position, intake manifold pressure, mass air flow and fuel trim.
  • VIN reading – supports retrieval of the Vehicle Identification Number when this OBD-II function is provided by the vehicle.
  • Broad standard OBD-II protocol support – supports SAE J1850, ISO 9141-2, ISO 14230-4 KWP and ISO 15765-4 CAN variants.
  • MAXOBD app support – KONNWEI recommends its MAXOBD application for Android and iOS; Car Scanner is also listed by the manufacturer.
  • Powered directly from the OBD-II connector – no separate external power supply is required.
  • Power button and status indicators – the adapter includes a power control and three indicators for monitoring power, Bluetooth and vehicle communication status.
  • Compact design – small dimensions make the adapter convenient for use with a standard 16-pin OBD-II diagnostic connector.

Application and intended use

The KW905 is intended for standard OBD-II vehicle diagnostics, checking trouble codes and monitoring engine and emissions-related ECU data.

Typical applications include: - checking the cause of a Check Engine warning; - reading and clearing DTCs; - monitoring engine parameters in real time; - viewing diagnostic and sensor data; - reading VIN information; - basic vehicle operating and condition checks.

It is suitable for vehicle owners and DIY users as well as service personnel who need mobile access to standard OBD-II information.

Compatibility and limitations

  • Designed for OBD-II compliant vehicles equipped with a standard 16-pin DLC connector.
  • Supported mobile operating systems: Android and iOS.
  • Manufacturer-recommended application: MAXOBD.
  • Car Scanner is also listed as a compatible application.
  • The actual parameters available depend on the vehicle ECU, supported OBD-II PIDs and the application being used.
  • The manufacturer documents standard OBD-II engine and emissions diagnostic functions; the KW905 should not be considered a full-system diagnostic scanner for every electronic control module in the vehicle.
  • Deep Security Scan is not supported.
  • Vehicle-Specific Data Stream is not supported.
  • Clearing a trouble code does not repair the underlying vehicle fault. If the cause remains, the DTC and warning lamp may return.

Design and controls

The KW905 plugs directly into the vehicle's standard OBD-II diagnostic connector and is powered from the connector. A power button allows the adapter to be switched off when it is not required, reducing unnecessary vehicle battery consumption.

Three status indicators provide information about power, Bluetooth communication and communication with the vehicle. Diagnostic functions and data display are controlled through the mobile application.

Important operating and safety notes

  • Before clearing DTCs, record or save the fault codes and related diagnostic information.
  • Clearing a DTC does not repair the underlying fault; the code may return if the cause has not been corrected.
  • Use the adapter only with an OBD-II compliant vehicle and ensure it is securely connected to the 16-pin DLC.
  • Protect the adapter from moisture, impact, extreme cold, direct sunlight and strong electromagnetic interference.
  • When not in use, the adapter should be switched off or removed from the OBD-II connector.
  • Do not disassemble or modify the device.
