Description

A paint thickness gauge is a useful, small device that allows you to check the thickness of the paint on the car you are inspecting or buying. The device makes it easy to check that the seller has provided accurate information about the paintwork. Powered by AAA batteries, it is ideal for outdoor use. The meter is easy to use.

For measuring the thickness of metal and other coatings such as paint, enamel, chrome on steel, paint and anodised aluminium, copper coatings.
Automatic determination of substrate properties.
Highly accurate resolution of 1 μm.
Measurement of FE coatings (steel, iron) and NFE coatings (aluminium, copper, stainless steel, other non-ferrous metals) and automotive paints in the range 0 to 2000μm.
Compact size.
Battery level indicator.
Automatic switch-off.
Backlighting
Meter calibrated and ready to use
Calibration plates included
The instrument is safe for the surfaces to be measured
Wide range of applications
Precise measurements

The paint thickness gauge is suitable for use on both steel and aluminium. Thanks to the modern probe, the instrument performs highly accurate measurements over a wide range of 0-2000um.

Wide range of applications

The paint thickness gauge is not only used in the automotive industry, it is also used in metal processing. It is also used in the chemical manufacturing industry, car washes and laboratories. This makes the product ideal for both professional and home use. It is easy to use.

Calibration plates included - with the purchase of this gauge you will receive a set of calibration plates that will allow you to calibrate the gauge.

Ready to use

The gauge is safe and does not damage the surfaces being measured. The integrated probe examines the paint non-invasively.

How to use the device?

Prepare the object to be measured for testing.
Keep the device at least 2 cm away from metal objects and press the power button to switch it on. Note: It is recommended to calibrate the instrument to zero before starting measurements.
Place the probe vertically and quickly on the surface to be measured and display the measured value on the screen, then lift the probe at least 2 cm away from the surface to take the next measurement. Note: If the auto-off function is activated and no action is taken within 3 minutes, the unit will switch off automatically.

How to calibrate?

Basic calibration:

A basic calibration must be carried out on first use, after long periods of non-use or after a change of the tested base material. The basic calibration has 7 calibration points and the unit is mm...

Prepare 6 pieces of standard foil with a thickness of 0,04-0,06 mm, 0,09-0,11 mm, 0,22-0,28 mm, 0,45-0,55 mm, 1,90-1,05 mm, 1,90-2,00 mm.
Hold down the UP key and then ON, you will hear a beep, the LCD display will show 00 mm, the CAL sign will be displayed in the bottom right hand corner of the display "Release UP key to indicate that the calibration series has been entered.
Press the probe lightly on the uncoated aluminium substrate, at which point the LCD will display 0.00 and then you will hear a sound.
Put the unit aside, the display will show 0.05 mm. Perform a second calibration and gently press the probe against the aluminium base on which the calibration sheet is placed. Once the value shown on the display has been set, the next point has been calibrated. Repeat the process with all foil thicknesses.

Zero calibration:

For accurate results, calibrate the device to zero.

When switching on the unit, hold down the right button until "Zero Calibration (ZERO)" appears on the display.
Place the probe vertically on a bare substrate surface until the result shows "0". Then lift the probe at least 2 cm off the ground.

Up to 3 probe modes

In Auto mode (AUTO), the instrument automatically selects a suitable substrate.
In Magnetic Induction mode (F), the instrument measures using magnetic induction.
In Eddy Current mode (NFE), the instrument measures eddy currents. It is currently suitable for measuring non-ferromagnetic metallic substrates.

Measurement statistics

The device has a built-in measurement memory that can be deleted! It is possible to switch the displayed statistics such as average, minimum, maximum, count. Up to 3 units of measurement to choose from: micrometres, millimetres and mil.
