The UNI-T UT383 is a compact digital illuminance meter designed for measuring ambient and workplace light levels. Measurements can be displayed in Lux or foot-candles (Fc), while MAX/MIN, Data Hold, LCD backlight and automatic power-off functions make routine measurements easier. Its measurement range of up to 199,900 lx allows it to be used for both normal indoor lighting and significantly higher illumination levels.

Applications

The UT383 is intended for checking illuminance levels wherever an objective measurement of lighting intensity is required. Typical applications include offices and workplaces, meeting rooms, workshops, desk lighting, luminaires and comparison of different light sources.

It is suitable for household use, general maintenance and routine lighting inspections requiring a portable direct-reading light meter.

Compatibility and limitations

The UT383 is a self-contained measuring instrument and does not require a computer or mobile application.

The UT383 should not be confused with the UT383BT version:

• UT383 does not provide Bluetooth connectivity and does not support the UNI-T iENV application;
• UT383 does not have a tripod mounting hole.

Bluetooth data transfer, measurement analysis and data export through the iENV application are features of the UT383BT model.

Construction and controls

The UT383 combines an integrated illuminance sensor with an LCD display. Dedicated controls are provided for power, Lux/Fc unit selection, MAX/MIN mode, Data Hold and display backlight.

If the measured illumination exceeds the meter's range, “OL” is displayed.

Important operating and safety notes

• Check the instrument and its housing for damage before use.
• Do not open the meter or modify its internal wiring, as this may affect measurement accuracy or damage the instrument.
• Do not use or store the meter in environments with high temperature, high humidity, flammable materials or strong electromagnetic fields.
• Replace the batteries when the low-battery indication appears.
• Remove the batteries if the meter will not be used for an extended period.
• Clean the housing with a soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
