User's manual

FNIRSI SAG-55 Hot Air Rework Gun, 550 W, 100–450°C, 80 L/min

The FNIRSI SAG-55 is a compact temperature-controlled hot air tool designed for electronics soldering, desoldering and rework. It provides up to 550 W of power, PID temperature control, a 100–450°C operating range and a brushless fan with 20 adjustable airflow levels. A 1.54-inch LCD, three programmable temperature/airflow presets, cold-air operation and rapid cooling provide convenient control for different rework tasks.

Key parameters:
550 W MAX • 100–450°C • 80 L/min • 20 airflow levels • PID • 1.54" LCD • 850-series nozzles

Key features and benefits

  • PID temperature control – microcontroller-based PID regulation provides controlled heating and rapid response while reducing thermal shock to the heating element.
  • 100–450°C temperature range – covers a wide range of electronics soldering and desoldering tasks; the temperature adjustment step can be configured from 5 to 25°C.
  • Brushless fan with 20 airflow levels – allows airflow to be adapted to different component sizes and working conditions. FNIRSI specifies an airflow rate of 80 L/min and operating noise below 65 dB.
  • Three programmable presets, CH1–CH3 – temperature and airflow settings can be stored for quick switching between frequently used operating conditions.
  • Cold-air and rapid-cooling modes – airflow can be switched to cold air. With rapid cooling enabled, the system uses airflow level 15 during standby cooling.
  • Magnetic sensing – a magnetic sensor integrated into the handle is used for automatic cooling and standby operation when the handle is returned to the appropriate holder.
  • 1.54-inch LCD – the 240 × 240 display shows set temperature, real-time temperature, airflow level and the selected preset.
  • Temperature calibration function – calibration points are provided at 120°C, 220°C, 320°C and 420°C for checking and correcting temperature using external measuring equipment.
  • Configurable automatic shutdown – automatic power-off can be disabled or set to 5, 10 or 15 minutes of standby.
  • Sensor-based protection – FNIRSI states that multiple sensors monitor the operating status and disable heating if an abnormal condition is detected.

Applications

The SAG-55 is intended for electronics repair, soldering, desoldering and rework applications that require a controlled hot-air stream. It can be used for component installation and removal, PCB repair and other electronics work where controlled temperature and airflow are required.

FNIRSI positions the SAG-55 for both technical professionals and DIY users. Its compact handle and integrated controls allow temperature and airflow settings to be adjusted directly from the handpiece.

Compatibility and limitations

The SAG-55 uses a 21.6 mm heating tube and is compatible with 850-series hot-air nozzles. A 6 mm nozzle is included in the manufacturer's package.

Two mains-voltage versions are available:

  • 110 V version: 100–140 V AC;
  • 220 V / EU version: 200–240 V AC.

The correct version must be selected for the local mains supply. Both versions operate at 50/60 Hz.

FNIRSI offers Standard and Pro packages. The Standard package includes a Basic Metal Stand, while the Pro package includes the Smart Sleep Stand. Check the selected package before ordering.

The user interface supports English and Simplified Chinese. Temperature can be displayed in °C or °F.

FNIRSI does not specify an absolute temperature accuracy such as ±°C. PID temperature control should therefore not be interpreted as a declared temperature-accuracy specification.

Design and controls

The display and operating controls are integrated directly into the hot-air handle. The handpiece includes left, middle and right control buttons together with a dedicated preset button/indicator for the CH1–CH3 settings.

The main screen displays real-time temperature, set temperature, airflow level and the selected preset. Temperature and airflow can therefore be adjusted directly from the handpiece.

The settings menu provides control of automatic shutdown, startup heating, °C/°F temperature units, interface language, preset parameters, temperature adjustment step, standby temperature, rapid cooling, temperature calibration and screen brightness.

Important operating and safety notes

  • The hot-air outlet and surrounding parts can reach extremely high temperatures and may remain hot during cooling.
  • After use, return the handle to its holder and allow the unit to cool to the configured 70–100°C standby temperature before switching off or disconnecting the power.
  • Keep the air outlet and fan intake unobstructed.
  • During desoldering, FNIRSI recommends maintaining at least 2 mm between the air outlet and the object being heated.
  • Different nozzles may cause differences in actual outlet-air temperature.
  • Do not use the unit in environments containing flammable or explosive gases or substances, and avoid excessively humid environments.
  • Use a properly grounded mains outlet of the correct voltage.
  • Keep the unit out of reach of children.
