Description

KAMAMI KA-Nucleo-Multisensor multi-sensor expansion board for STM32 Nucleo-64, LIS35DE, LPS25HB, DS18B20

KAMAMI KA-Nucleo-Multisensor is a multifunction expansion board designed for compatible STM32 Nucleo-64 development boards. It integrates a LIS35DE 3-axis MEMS accelerometer, LPS25HB absolute-pressure MEMS sensor, DS18B20 digital temperature sensor, photoresistor, 4-digit 7-segment LED display, four RGB LEDs and two user push-buttons. The board provides a convenient platform for education, prototyping and embedded-system development without requiring multiple separate peripheral modules.

Key parameters:
STM32 Nucleo-64 • LIS35DE ±2 g / ±8 g • LPS25HB 260–1260 hPa • DS18B20 −55...+125 °C • SPI / I²C / 1-Wire

Main advantages

  • Multiple sensors on one board – acceleration, pressure, temperature and ambient-light sensing functions can be used in a single STM32 project.
  • LIS35DE 3-axis MEMS accelerometer – measures acceleration along the X, Y and Z axes and offers software-selectable ±2 g and ±8 g full-scale settings together with click and double-click recognition.
  • LPS25HB absolute-pressure sensor – provides a 260–1260 hPa measurement range and 24-bit pressure output data for barometric and atmospheric-pressure applications.
  • Low LPS25HB pressure noise – the sensor specifies 0.01 hPa RMS pressure noise with embedded filtering for stable barometric measurements.
  • DS18B20 digital temperature sensor – operates over −55 °C to +125 °C and specifies ±0.5 °C accuracy from −10 °C to +85 °C.
  • 4-digit 7-segment LED display – four digits and four decimal points allow measurement results, counters and other numerical information to be displayed directly.
  • Four tri-colour RGB LEDs – suitable for status, event, threshold and operating-mode indication.
  • Two user push-buttons – provide simple local user input for firmware applications.
  • miniUSB connector – its data lines are connected to STM32 PA11 and PA12, allowing a compatible STM32 MCU and firmware to implement USB communication.
  • ST Morpho connectivity – designed for integration with compatible STM32 Nucleo-64 boards.

Applications

KA-Nucleo-Multisensor is suitable for learning STM32 programming, experimenting with sensor interfaces, embedded-system laboratory exercises and rapid prototyping. Typical projects can include basic weather stations, temperature and pressure data acquisition, motion or orientation detection, LED-based user interfaces and practical experiments with SPI, I²C and 1-Wire buses.

The product is primarily a development and educational expansion board rather than a standalone calibrated measuring instrument or certified industrial measurement system.

Compatibility and limitations

  • Designed for STM32 Nucleo-64 development boards with ST Morpho connectors.
  • The selected Nucleo-64 board must provide the required SPI and I²C functions on the following ST Morpho pins:
    • MISO – 51;
    • MOSI – 53;
    • SCK – 69;
    • SDA – 56;
    • SCL – 63.
  • KAMAMI lists NUCLEO-F103RB and NUCLEO-F401RE as examples of compatible boards.
  • The LIS35DE is connected through SPI on this expansion board.
  • The LPS25HB is connected through I²C on this expansion board.
  • The DS18B20 uses the 1-Wire interface.
  • The miniUSB data lines are routed to PA11 and PA12. No separate USB-to-UART converter is specified on the board; USB operation therefore depends on the USB capability of the selected STM32 MCU and its firmware.
  • No calibrated illuminance range, accuracy or lux specification is provided for the photoresistor. It should therefore be regarded as a relative ambient-light sensor rather than a calibrated lux sensor.
  • The STM32 Nucleo-64 base board is not included.

Construction and controls

The expansion board is installed on a compatible STM32 Nucleo-64 board through the ST Morpho connectors. The PCB integrates the sensors, 4-digit 7-segment display, four RGB LEDs, two user push-buttons, a photoresistor and a miniUSB Mini-B connector.

The miniUSB D− and D+ lines are connected through the board protection circuitry to STM32 PA11 and PA12. The connector should therefore not be confused with a separate USB-to-UART interface: USB communication must be implemented by the selected STM32 microcontroller and firmware.
