The UNI-T UT219DS is a professional True RMS AC/DC clamp meter designed for electrical installations, industrial equipment, HVAC/R systems, motors and general electrical maintenance. It measures up to 600 A AC/DC current with the clamp, up to 1000 V AC/DC voltage, resistance, capacitance, frequency, temperature and microamp current, and also provides 3-phase sequence testing. Additional UT219DS functions include a low-pass filter, INRUSH current measurement, AC+DC modes and simultaneous V+A dual-display measurement.

Applications

UNI-T positions the UT219DS for professional electricians, HVAC/R technicians and motor-service technicians. It is suitable for electrical installation, distribution-system, motor, pump, compressor, variable-frequency-drive and other industrial or commercial electrical maintenance and troubleshooting tasks.

In addition to AC/DC current and voltage, the meter can measure resistance, capacitance, frequency, duty cycle and temperature and can perform diode and continuity tests. MAX/MIN, REL, ZERO and Data Hold functions support troubleshooting and comparative measurements.

Compatibility and limitations

• Clamp-current measurement must be performed on one conductor at a time.
• Maximum jaw opening is 33 mm.
• The 1000 V measurement range does not mean CAT IV 1000 V. The instrument is rated CAT III 1000 V / CAT IV 600 V.
• The 2000 µA AC/DC ranges use the test-lead input terminals rather than the clamp.
• The meter supports temperature measurement up to 1000 °C, but the usable range is also limited by the rating of the connected temperature probe.
• The dedicated frequency-measurement range must not be confused with AC bandwidth: AC current frequency response is 40–400 Hz, while AC voltage response extends to 1 kHz.
• LoZ AC voltage measurement is specified up to 600 V.

Construction and controls

The UT219DS uses a 33 mm clamp jaw and a dual 6000-count LCD. Measurement functions are selected with a rotary switch and dedicated function buttons. The primary display updates up to 5 times per second, while the 31-segment analog bar graph updates up to 20 times per second for easier observation of changing signals.

Automatic backlighting improves readability in changing ambient light, while Data Hold, MAX/MIN, REL and ZERO functions support recording and comparative measurements.

Important safety and operating notes

• Do not exceed the CAT III 1000 V / CAT IV 600 V limits and use appropriately rated test leads.
• Clamp only one current-carrying conductor at a time and position it near the centre of the jaws for best accuracy.
• De-energize the circuit and discharge capacitors before resistance, capacitance, diode or continuity measurements.
• Use the ZERO function before DC current measurements if a residual offset is displayed.
• The effective temperature range may be limited by the specification of the connected K-type temperature probe.
• IP54 protection does not permit immersion in water.
