Description
KONNWEI KW340 OBD2 Automotive Diagnostic Scanner
The KONNWEI KW340 is a wired OBD2 / EOBD diagnostic scanner designed for quick checking of a vehicle’s engine-management and emission-control systems. It can read and erase diagnostic trouble codes, display live sensor data, check emission-monitor readiness and show operating conditions stored when a fault was detected.
A large 2.8-inch TFT colour screen, clearly arranged buttons and dedicated shortcut keys make the scanner convenient for vehicle owners and workshop technicians. No internal battery is required because the device is powered directly through the vehicle’s 16-pin OBD2 diagnostic connector.
Main features
- automatic startup scan or manual ECU connection;
- reads and clears engine diagnostic trouble codes;
- displays confirmed, pending and permanent DTCs where supported;
- built-in trouble-code description lookup;
- live sensor data stream;
- freeze-frame data;
- I/M Readiness emission-monitor check;
- O2 sensor monitor test;
- on-board monitor test results;
- EVAP system test support when permitted by the vehicle ECU;
- reads VIN, CIN and CVN information;
- battery voltage waveform display;
- green, yellow and red status LEDs;
- dedicated DTC, I/M, VIN and battery-check keys;
- day and night display themes;

Diagnostic functions
Reading trouble codes
The KW340 reads standard OBD2 diagnostic trouble codes related to the engine and emission-control system. Depending on vehicle support, it can display confirmed, pending and permanent codes.
The built-in DTC lookup provides a description of the selected code and helps identify the system associated with the fault.
Clearing trouble codes
After the actual cause has been repaired, the scanner can clear diagnostic codes and switch off the Check Engine / MIL warning light. Clearing codes may also erase freeze-frame data and reset emission-monitor readiness.
Live data
The scanner can display real-time parameters transmitted by the ECU, including where supported:
- engine speed;
- coolant temperature;
- intake-air temperature;
- throttle position;
- calculated engine load;
- short-term and long-term fuel trim;
- oxygen-sensor data;
- vehicle speed;
- other OBD2 parameters supported by the vehicle.
The exact number of available parameters depends on the vehicle ECU.
Freeze frame
Freeze-frame data shows key engine operating parameters automatically saved when a diagnostic trouble code was registered. This helps identify the conditions under which the fault occurred.
I/M Readiness
The I/M Readiness function checks whether the vehicle’s emission monitors have completed their self-tests. It is useful before an emissions inspection or after trouble codes have been cleared.
Status LEDs provide a quick indication:
- green – no trouble codes and monitors are ready;
- yellow – pending codes or incomplete monitors may be present;
- red – a fault is detected or the MIL is active.
O2, EVAP and on-board monitor tests
The device can retrieve oxygen-sensor monitor results, results for non-continuously monitored emission components and, when permitted by the vehicle ECU, initiate an EVAP system test.
Vehicle information
The KW340 can retrieve:
- VIN – Vehicle Identification Number;
- CIN – Calibration Identification Number;
- CVN – Calibration Verification Number.
Battery voltage test
A dedicated shortcut key opens the battery-voltage test and displays voltage changes as a waveform. The function can provide a preliminary view of starting voltage and alternator charging voltage.
This is not a complete battery-capacity, CCA, internal-resistance or SOH tester.
Vehicle compatibility
The KONNWEI KW340 is intended for vehicles equipped with a standard 16-pin OBD2 / EOBD connector and supports CAN and other standard OBD2 communication protocols.
General compatibility guidelines:
- most vehicles sold in the United States from model year 1996;
- most European petrol vehicles from approximately 2001;
- most European diesel vehicles from approximately 2004;
- OBD2 / EOBD-compliant Asian and other regional vehicles.
Before purchase, verify that the vehicle has a 16-pin OBD2 connector and supports standard OBDII / EOBD engine diagnostics.

Important information
The KONNWEI KW340 is primarily designed for standard OBD2 engine and emission diagnostics. It is not an all-system diagnostic scanner and normally does not provide comprehensive diagnostics for ABS, SRS airbags, automatic transmission, body-control, immobiliser or other manufacturer-specific modules.
Actual functions and available data depend on the vehicle make, model, production year and OBD2 modes supported by its ECU.
