Datasheet User's manual

UNI-T UT219E Digital Clamp Meter, 600 A AC, True RMS, CAT IV 600 V

The UNI-T UT219E is a professional digital clamp meter designed for electrical installation, maintenance and HVAC/R work. It measures AC current up to 600 A with the clamp, AC and DC voltage up to 1000 V, resistance, capacitance, frequency and duty cycle, and supports True RMS measurement. Its IP54 rating, 2 m drop-test specification and CAT III 1000 V / CAT IV 600 V safety ratings make it suitable for demanding service environments.

Key specifications:
600 A AC • 1000 V AC/DC • True RMS • CAT III 1000 V / CAT IV 600 V • IP54

Key Features

  • True RMS measurement – provides more reliable AC voltage and current measurements when the waveform is not a perfect sine wave.
  • AC current measurement up to 600 A – allows current to be measured without opening the circuit or connecting the meter in series.
  • AC and DC voltage measurement up to 1000 V – suitable for electrical installations, power circuits and equipment diagnostics.
  • LoZ ACV mode – the reduced input impedance helps suppress ghost voltages and distinguish an actual energized circuit from capacitively coupled voltage.
  • Wide range of additional measurements – measures resistance up to 60 MΩ, capacitance up to 60 mF, frequency up to 10 MHz and duty cycle.
  • MAX/MIN, HOLD and REL functions – simplify monitoring changing values, freezing a reading and performing relative measurements.
  • Automatic and manual ranging – allows either convenient automatic range selection or manual control.
  • 6000-count display with 31-segment analog bar graph – combines a digital reading with a fast visual indication of value changes.
  • IP54 and 2 m drop-test specification – designed for electrical maintenance and field working conditions.
  • Automatic backlight and flashlight – improve visibility in poorly lit panels and work areas.

Applications

The UT219E is intended for professional electricians, electrical maintenance personnel and HVAC/R technicians. It is suitable for checking electrical installations, distribution panels, power circuits, motor supply circuits and other electrical equipment where non-intrusive AC current measurement or contact measurements of voltage, resistance, capacitance and frequency are required.

Compatibility and Limitations

The UT219E measures AC current with the clamp, but it does not measure DC current with the clamp. Unlike the UT219M and UT219DS, it does not provide temperature measurement or three-phase motor phase-sequence testing. It also lacks the LPF, V+A dual-display and Inrush functions provided by the UT219DS.

Voltage, resistance, capacitance, frequency, duty-cycle, diode and continuity measurements are performed using test leads.

Design and Controls

The UT219E features a 33 mm clamp jaw, rotary function selector and dedicated RANGE, MAX/MIN, REL/ZERO, HOLD, Hz% and SELECT buttons. Its LCD provides the main numerical reading together with a 31-segment analog bar graph. Automatic backlighting improves display visibility in dark environments, while the built-in flashlight illuminates the measurement area.

Important Safety and Operating Notes

When measuring current with the clamp, only one conductor should be enclosed by the jaws. Clamping both outgoing and return conductors at the same time can cause their magnetic fields to cancel and produce an incorrect reading.

For AC current measurements, the conductor should be positioned as close as practical to the center of the jaws. Before measuring voltage, resistance, capacitance or other quantities, select the correct measurement function and observe the meter's safety category and permitted input limits.
