Description
Mini M50 Brushed DC Motor, 1–3 V, 18,000 RPM, Ø1 mm Shaft
The M50 is a compact brushed DC motor intended for small models, toys, robotics and DIY projects. It operates from a 1–3 V DC supply and reaches 18,000 RPM at 3 V. Its compact Ø10 × 25 mm body and Ø1 mm shaft make it suitable for small mechanical assemblies where limited installation space and high rotational speed are important.
Key specifications: 1–3 V DC • 18,000 RPM at 3 V • 8,000 RPM at 1.5 V • Ø1 mm shaft • Ø10 × 25 mm body
Key Features
- 18,000 RPM at 3 V – suitable for small mechanisms and models requiring high shaft speed.
- 1–3 V DC supply – convenient for simple low-voltage electronics and DIY projects.
- Compact Ø10 × 25 mm dimensions – suitable for installation in small toys, models, robots and experimental mechanisms.
- Ø1 mm shaft – compatible with gears, wheels, couplings and other mechanical parts designed for a 1 mm shaft.
- 3 mm shaft length – an important dimension when selecting a coupling or driven component.
- Specified no-load current of 0.09 A – useful when selecting the power source and control circuitry for unloaded operation.
- Reversible rotation – the direction of a brushed DC motor can be reversed by changing the supply polarity.
Applications
The motor is intended for low-power mechanisms with relatively light mechanical loads. Typical applications include:
- small toy vehicles and models;
- basic robotics projects;
- educational and experimental DIY projects;
- small rotating mechanisms;
- lightweight fan or rotor mechanisms;
- prototypes and repairs of small mechanisms.
This is a compact high-speed motor. No torque characteristics are specified by the supplier, so suitability for a particular mechanical load should not be determined from RPM alone.
Compatibility and Limitations
The motor requires a 1–3 V DC power source. A gear, wheel, coupling or other mechanical component fitted to the motor must be suitable for the Ø1 mm shaft, with a specified shaft length of 3 mm.
The power source and control electronics should be selected with the specified 1.5 A stalled-shaft current in mind.
Important limitations:
- maximum specified supply voltage: 3 V DC;
- intended for lightweight mechanisms rather than high-torque drive applications;
- torque, rated mechanical output power and efficiency are not specified;
- the product specification does not state the exact test conditions for the listed 0.09 A and 1.5 A current values.

Construction and Connection
This is a conventional brushed DC motor. Applying DC voltage causes the shaft to rotate, while reversing the power-supply polarity reverses the direction of rotation.
Its compact body makes it suitable for space-constrained assemblies. Before installation, make sure that the selected mechanical component correctly fits the Ø1 mm shaft.
Important Operating and Safety Notes
- Operate only within the specified 1–3 V DC range.
- Do not exceed a 3 V supply voltage.
- Avoid prolonged operation with the shaft locked. In this condition the specified current can reach 1.5 A, which may cause significant heating of the motor and control components.
- The power supply, switch, transistor or motor driver should be selected with starting and stall current in mind, not only the no-load current.
- Before applying power, make sure that the shaft and connected mechanism can rotate freely.
